Background: Most “B” in the preimplantation embryo chromosome aneuploidy/structure abnormality test (PGT-A/SR) are mosaic embryos, but some are indistinguishable from artifacts and are difficult to interpret, often making the decision whether to perform embryo transfer (ET) difficult.
Objective: To clarify the pregnancy outcomes of B at our clinic, and to use this information as a reference for future practice.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of the outcomes of 22 patients (27 cycles) transferred with B embryos from January 2021 to the end of April 2024 at our clinic, based on medical records.
Results: The clinical pregnancy rate 68.0% (17/25), miscarriage rate 11.8% (2/17), and ongoing pregnancy rate was 64.0 % (16/25). These included one abortion not due to a chromosomal abnormality.
Discussion: It is known that the clinical pregnancy rate for PGT, including those with euploid, is approximately 60-70%, and the results of this study are comparable to those of previous reports, despite the fact that the results were based on “B” only. This suggests that there may be a certain number of cases in our clinic in which euploid are misclassified as “B” due to artifacts or other reasons.
Conclusion: Even for “B”, which are thought to have a high probability of euploidy, it is extremely difficult for couples who wish to conceive to decide whether or not to transfer the embryos. Therefore, it was considered necessary to review techniques such as embryo biopsy to reduce misjudgment due to artifacts.
